Bromo Adventure
Honestly,
riding motorcycles in the middle of sandy road with strong wind wasn’t a nice
thing to do. It was very difficult to adjust visibility or even breathe, let
alone speeding. But behind all these difficulties, the eight of us kept going
through this “sandstorm” with enthusiasm in order to arrive at Mount Bromo as
soon as possible.
On
that day, Thursday, September 21st 2017; Andreas, Dimas, Herry,
Erick, Achmad, Daus, Jeffri, and I rode motorcycles to Bromo after staying at
Brex’s house in Malang on the previous day. The 2 hour journey through uphill
and winding route plus continued with sandy road was really exhausting. But it
all paid off with beautiful scenery of the sandy meadow once we arrived at
Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
As
parkour practitioners, of course we didn’t come here just to sightsee and take
photographs. So, we decided to do jamming first around the foot of the mountain
before climbing it. By the way, another reason behind this Bromo trip is
because we want to make a parkour video project using the newly bought drone by
Andreas. While the drone is ready and some friends can spare their time, then we
immediately execute this plan rather than procrastinate any longer.
After
±1.5 hours jamming and taking videos, we took a break for a while at some
random meadow area nearby the jamming spot. Shortly after; Achmad, Jeffri,
Dimas, and I decided to climb to the top while the others stayed down
practicing drone control. Upon arriving at the top, the sand dust was replaced
with a slightly sulfurous odor. But apart from that, the scenery was truly
remarkable, all the hard work on the climb paid off immediately.
The
eight of us then left Bromo at ±4.30 PM, and rented a villa nearby. We spent
all the night resting and chatting there before returning to Surabaya on the
next day (for Achmad and Daus, they went back to Malang).
Overall, I’m glad that I could adventuring in Bromo again for the second time since 2012. At that time, that Bromo visit was an “after party” from 2012 National Jamming of Parkour Indonesia in Surabaya. There’s always an interesting story from this sandy mountain, and hopefully one day I have a chance to visit it again.
